A problem with "gun culture" in America is that so much of it is wrapped up around Cowboys and Indians. "Yeeha!" they cry from the safety of their yellow magnet-encrusted Ford Excursions and H2s as they fantasize about blowing up a horde of "Islamofascists" with an Abrams. They go on about how tough they are because they gorge themselves on King-sized Whopper value meals, because salads are for pansy tree-huggers. They mourn the loss of the "real man" in America and rage about the "metrosexual" fad as a threat to Real Men such as they. Real Men who are so manly that they can barely allow a woman to be in their presence. They glorify war without end, living in a fantasy world where they bring death to all that stand in their way with mighty .308s and .45s, because anything smaller is for women and girly-men. They want submissive women that rarely leave the kitchen but don't see the irony when they go on about how repressive Middle Eastern culture is. They go on about how close they are to "pressing the reset button," their term for overthrowing the government because they need those bayonet lugs so badly. They grab every "milblog" site they can that caters to their tastes; the ones that have exciting war stories about Our Glorious Troops bringing swift death to Terrists. They do all this, safely tucked away stateside, knowing deep down in places they don't talk about at parties that their fantasies will never become reality and that they'll never have their machismo threatened by their obesity, and they'll be free to carry out their Walter Mitty lifestyle until they're too old for cotton underwear.
